Business Today - YES Bank SME Awards 2010
GKB Ophthalmics Limited Mapusa, Goa, has been awarded one of the most prestigious award - The Business Today – YES Bank, Best SME Award 2010, in the International Trade. The award was presented by Mr. Kamal Nath, Hon'ble Union Cabinet Minister for Road Transport and Highways to Mr. K. G. Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of the Company, at a high profile Awards Ceremony held at the Ballroom of the Grand, New Delhi, which was attended by about 500 invitees.
The awards seek to identify achievers, innovators and enablers of the SME Universe, having a population of around 2,00,000.
The award winners, were determined through a robust three step selection process.
In all 64,000 applications were received in 7 categories for 13 awards. About 15-25 Companies were shortlisted in each award category.
In Round II, detailed applications were invited from shortlisted candidates and a list of 3 Companies in each category was drawn up and further information on these Companies, was collected by YES Bank teams.
This final shortlist was given to the jury, which consisted of eminent personalities. The members were Mr. Dinesh Rai, Secretary to the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (since retired), Dr. Amit Mitra of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Mr. Parag Patki, CEO SME Rating Agency of India, Mr. Vishnu R. Dusad. Managing Director, Nucleus Software Exports and Mr. Rana Kapoor, Founder /Managing Director & CEO, YES BANK.
